NEON MEETS FLURO

Jake Chair - Koskela

Artwork exclusively for Koskela by Kate Banazi

Jewellery By ELIXIR

Being a Visual Merchandiser for Country Road surrounded by fashion and having daily exposure to the world of retail it's only natural that I have a rather large shopping addiction finding that I am forever struggling to fit every last item into my wardrobe. In terms of fashion I use the same styling techniques as I would in a home. Investing your money into those timeless everlasting 'life time' pieces and updating each season with the odd 'on trend' items. One trend I haven't been able to ignore is the influx of Neon. I have always found it interesting to see whats coming down the cat walk complementing textiles, fabrics and furniture on the front covers of Vogue living or in Furniture show rooms.

Koskela in Sydney have recently open a new show room which I am dying to check out, every single last piece is breath taking. In terms of NEON/ FLURO they have absolutely nailed it! Don't miss checking out Kate Banazi, screen-printer extraordinaire and absolute master of all things geometrically fluoro. Her exclusive range is one not to miss as well as being extremely affordable!

Check out this interview by TDF with the amazing Russell Koskela HERE (inspiration overload!!)

Luke Mortimer's Home - Castlemaine Victoria

I couldn't help but re-post these images from The Design Files after I fell in love with this home. I found I had right clicked and saved every single image! I was surprised when I discovered that Luke Mortimer and I share the same Employer - Country Road. He currently resides in Melbourne and is the very talented Visual Merchandiser and Homeware stylist and I am a Visual Merchandiser for Country Road here in sunny Queensland.

Most of the pieces in his home have been found at op shops and vintage stores, check out the amazingggg GREEN enamel pedestal basin! As well as the mid-century arm chairs (such a sweet find).

I love everything about this home from the warm charcoal coloured walls, succulents potted in vintage glass jars and of course the crisp Country Road bedlinen!

About Me

A bit about me, my dreams and my blog.....

I am currently employed as a Visual Merchandiser working with Man, Woman, Child and Homeware, having been a visual merchandiser for over 3 years and loving every minute of it. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Creative Arts, majoring in Visual Design with a minor in Media and Communication. I am extremely passionate about my career in the design industry along with having a friendly, approachable and down to earth attitude. I am constantly researching products, new and old from everything to lamps, rugs, textiles and fabrics.

I don’t follow trends. I prefer to give old classics a new life, keeping the looks fresh and timeless. My goal is to immerse myself into the world of design and gain as much product knowledge as possible. Along with being a visual merchandiser I am currently in the process of studying whilst building my own small business ‘Personal Spaces’, located in Brisbane Australia.

GRANT FEATHERSTON

Grant Featherston (1922-1995)

SO OBSESSED!!

Inducted into the DIA Design Hall of Fame in 1996. Grant Featherston was born in Geelong Victoria. Self-taught, he designed lighting and glass panels before serving in the army from 1940-1944. Returning to Melbourne he produced the first of his famous plywood shell Contour chairs in 1951.

Featherston Contract Interiors furniture showroom opened in 1956, and in 1957 he became a consultant to Aristoc Industries for 13 years. His design partnership with his wife Mary was formed in 1966 and they worked on major projects in the ensuing years, including the Expo 67 Talking Chair and the Numero range for Uniroyal.

Grant was a foundation member of the Society of Designers for Industry, the forerunner to the Design Institute of Australia.

Such an iconic Australia Designer! I would have a featherston chair over diamonds any day!!
